“That’s Mister Kaneda to you, punk!”

This Akira poster was the first collab I did with fellow illustrator, drinking buddy and good friend Jeff Poitiers (who does pretty kick-ass movie poster illustrations in his free time. check him out). We thought Akira would be a good one to start with, as we could both work on one of the main characters from the movie. Also, I really wanted to draw that bike. We came up with these 2 compositions (one being a happy accident) and 2 color variations for the illustrations. I handled the illustration for Kaneda and his iconic bike. The process was done using stills from the movie and piecing them back together to get the right pose and expression.
